An introductory course that meets Oregon State Marine Board requirements for Oregon Boater Education. All necessary text material will be provided at the class at no extra charge. An exam will be administered upon completion of the course for the Oregon Boater standard. Successful examinees will be able to apply direct to Oregon State Marine Board, together with $10, for their permanent Oregon Boater Education Card. ALL boaters on Oregon waters must have an Oregon Boater Education Card in their possession when operating a vessel of 10 hp or more.

Oregon State Marine Board Written Exam
The course finishes with a written examination. Successful completion of the examination wins a certificate of completion, valid for 60 days, which allows you to immediately go on the water in compliance with the Oregon Boat Education requirement. You must mail a copy of the certificate to the OSMB together with $10 to obtain your permanent Oregon Boater Education Card. The Card is a one-time issuance and has no expiration date. Except for an initial term of 60 days, during which your course graduation certificate provides ample authority, the Card is required by law to be in the possession of operators of power-driven vessels of greater than 10 hp. ALL Oregon boaters must have the Card in their possession when operating vessels of greater than 10 hp.
